In the early 1900s, amidst the lively coastal city of Cochin, Mr. J.A. Sathar Sait, a visionary entrepreneur hailing from Kutch, Gujarat, laid the foundation of our family’s business. Having served with distinction in the Royal Air Force under British rule, he transitioned to a new chapter, wholeheartedly participating in India’s struggle for independence. Armed with a remarkable fluency in foreign languages acquired during his travels, he set out to establish a business that would leave an indelible mark on the seafood industry.

Joined by his sons, our family enterprise flourished, branching into various ventures. Memon Bros Company emerged as a leader in Live Crab Exports, while our original Fisherman’s Brand became renowned for its premium quality pickles. Responding to growing demand, we expanded our offerings to include the canning of sardines and mackerel, captivating discerning palates and earning the patronage of esteemed clients like MRF Company.

As technology advanced, so did our pursuits. By the 1970s, we had established partnerships with industry giants from Japan and USA, spearheading the introduction of frozen seafood across the region. Our commitment to sourcing the finest seacaught Indian seafood remained steadfast.

Fueled by an unwavering connection to the sea, we ventured into fishing, acquiring the vessel to broaden our horizons. Later, with the introduction of Aquacultured Black Tiger to India, setting new standards in the industry, we seized the opportunity to venture into aquaculture, embracing innovation and keeping pace with the changing times. Expanding our reach to different countries, we gained significant market share in Japan, USA, Europe, and Asia, offering a diverse range of frozen foods including Indian delicacies and vegetables.

With the introduction of Vannamei in India, we transitioned our focus to become a major player in this segment, leveraging our network of factories under our own contracts. Having been in the industry for decades, we had the advantage of partnering with the first farms and factories to process this shrimp, establishing ourselves as pioneers in this field.

As custodians of tradition, the third generation of our family embraces diversification, with Ahmed leading a segment of our sourcing business, upholding our legacy of integrity, innovation, and an unyielding commitment to excellence.
